Dr. Strangelove 1950
Dr Strangelove is the landmark war comedy in American history. The absurd events and performance of the main players is as funny as it is uneasy. Based on the novel Red Alert by Peter George the film is set at the top of the American Russian tension. War is just a pushed button away which one of the generals can't resist in doing. The rest is cinematic history; "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here. This is the War Room!". Peter Sellers is the wheelchair bound Nazi Strangelove, giving a performance of epic funnnitude. James earl Jones makes his full feature debut. John Wayne was originally casted to role of Slim Pickens (riding the bomb), but turned the part down.
